Welcome to the South Yorkshire Country Transformation pages.

As you will probably know by now, a lot of things are about to change in Scouting in the UK. Change creates a whole range of emotions and challenges, different for each and every one of us. Some embrace it, some hate it. B.-P. was always quick to emphasise, Scouting is a Movement and, as such, is not able to become static.

The four major themes of this transformation are:

  • a warmer welcome for all,
  • more engaging learning,
  • positive volunteering every day
  • digital support to get things done

There are a number of pages on the national website which give lots of information and we’ll add relevant and useful information as it becomes available from HQ :-

The Readiness Checklist

The Readiness checklist: A handy list of tasks to help get ready for using our new digital systems and processes is a very useful document (published October 2023) outlining some important steps to be ready for the switch from Compass to the new IT System. There’s quite a lot of information but it is structured into Important and Useful and divided into checklists for County, Districts and Groups. And don’t panic, the switch over from Compass to the new system is not until next year (date to be confirmed!)

Information about More Engaging Learning

A More Engaging Learning Experience gives more information of how learning will work in the future. Do watch all four videos …. you may wish to email [email protected] if you have questions.

Finally, read what Craig Turpie, Deputy UK Chief Commissioner (Transformation) said in his blog (April 2023).

We’ll try to add relevant and useful information as it is available from HQ as well as adding general links to the wealth of information on the HQ’s Transformation Pages.
