The World Scout Jamboree is the largest scouting event organised by the Scout Movement, gathering up to 50,000 people from all over the world. It is above all an educational event to promote peace and understanding.

The World Scout Jamboree includes a wide variety of activities and also places great importance on the everyday life and interaction on the campsite. The World Scout Jamboree takes place every four years in a different country.

Attending the Jamboree is likely to cost somewhere between £3,800 and £4,500, the exact amount will be set in November. Usually, participants fundraise the cost of attendance and there are hardship funds that may be available for up to 50% of the fee depending on circumstances.

Any Scouts and Explorer Scouts can apply as Participants, Too attend you must have been born between 00:00 on 22 July 2005 and 23:59 on 31 July 2009 to attend. These dates are set by the UK Contingent if you were born after 31st July 2009, the Jamboree in Poland in 2027 is the one you should look out for.

South Yorkshire Scouts are holding a participant selection weekend, which will take place on 11 – 12 December at Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre. The cost of the weekend will be £10 and attendance at the selection event is compulsory if you wish to attend the Jamboree. More information on the selection weekend will be sent out after the closing date.

We’re striving to be the most inclusive UK Contingent to attend a World Scout Jamboree. There should be no unnecessary barriers to anyone becoming part of the South Yorkshire Jamboree Contingent.
