We are excited to announce that applications opened on the 1st September for the next World Scout Jamboree Poland – July/August 2027

The World Scout Jamboree is a once in a lifetime adventure, with tens of thousands of Scouts from all over the world. It’s about making new friends, trying new things, learning about different cultures, and discovering what you’re capable of.

Application deadline: Friday 26th September 2025

A World Scout Jamboree is a WOSM event, for young people aged between 14 and 18 and is a gathering of Scouts from all over the world for an exciting programme of global development, peace, cultural understanding, adventure, fun, and friendship.  It takes place every 4 years and is organised by a local organising committee of the host country, supported by volunteers from across the World to manage all the departments needed to create a mini city for 2 weeks.

The UK Scout Association has a long history of sending large number of Units (36 young people and four leaders, divided into four patrols) as part of a UK Contingent to attend World Scout Jamborees.  The units represent each of the UK’s counties and countries/regions, with unit numbers be allocated based on the numbers of young people in each area.   Each Jamboree is a very different experience based on its location and design but there are also many common factors of such an international event,

The UK contingent set the main Jamboree fee for UK Participants and this includes the Jamboree fee, travel, accommodation/food, most activities etc.

South Yorkshire Scouts Jamboree Unit then add a top up fee to this cost to cover the cost of training events, local kit (i.e. T-shirts/hoodies), group equipment etc

The 26th World Scout Jamboree is due to be held in August 2027, with the site located on Wyspa Sobieszewska within the borders of the city of Gdańsk, on the coast of the Baltic Sea in northern Poland.

The World Scout Jamboree is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, with tens of thousands of Scouts from all over the world. It’s about making new friends, trying new things, learning about different cultures, and discovering what you’re capable of.

But it’s also a big commitment. It takes time, energy, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. This experience isn’t right for everyone, and that’s okay. There are lots of other amazing opportunities in Scouting, too.

This description is here to help you decide if applying for the Jamboree is something you’d enjoy and grow from.

  • Applicants must be born between 30 July 2009 and 30 July 2013
  • Applicants must be available to attend a selection weekend on 3rd – 5th October 2025. This will include one overnight stay, which could be either the Friday night or the Saturday night
  • Successful applicants will be required to pay a £550 deposit to confirm their place. The deposit needs to be paid by the middle of November 2025.

There’s no such thing as a “perfect” Jamboree participant. We’re not looking for the loudest, the most confident, or the most experienced. We’re looking for a mix of people who are ready to:

  • Be part of a team – listen, support others, and work together
  • Try new things – even if they feel a bit scary at first
  • Be open-minded – meet people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Get stuck in – whether it’s cooking dinner, putting up tents, or joining in activities
  • Grow – learn about yourself, challenge yourself, and come back with stories to tell

You don’t need to have done anything like this before. You just need to be up for the journey.

The WSJ is a big commitment. It takes time, energy, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. This experience isn’t right for everyone, and that’s okay. There are lots of other amazing opportunities in Scouting, too.

If you’re selected, you’ll be part of a Unit with other young people from South Yorkshire. You’ll:

  • Take part in training weekends and team-building activities
  • Help fundraise for your place and support others in doing the same
  • Represent your community and the UK at an international event
  • Be ready to learn, laugh, and maybe even get a bit muddy!

The total participant fee for the Jamboree is £3,550. This all-inclusive cost covers the Jamboree itself, travel, all training weekends, and unit apparel. The fee is payable in instalments as follows:

  • November 2025 – £550 deposit
  • March 2026 – £600
  • June 2026 – £600
  • September 2026 – £600
  • December 2026 – £600
  • March 2027 – £600

Although this may seem like a lot of money, fundraising is a big part of every Jamboree experience. We will be here to guide, support, and encourage you throughout your fundraising journey.

The form should be completed by any Scout or Explorer Scout who wishes to be considered for a place in South Yorkshire Unit 59, which will be part of the UK Contingent attending the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027. Scouts and Explorers should check with parents/carers before completing your application form and should also seek assistance if needed.

If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via wsj@syscouts.org.uk
